Working his way up through the ranks, Jim started as a rack fabricator in high school, and transitioned to a field tech and project engineer in the time between college degrees (BSME from MIT and MSME from Stanford University). When the opportunity arose to start a company with his father in 2001, he jumped at the chance.

Gisela Torino

System Specialist, CTS-I, CQT, CTD

“The true delight is in the finding out rather than the knowing.” - Isaac Asimov

Gisela is a CTS-I, CQT, CQD Certified System Specialist (does a little bit of everything) at Audio Visual Resources. She is the company’s most senior (gets to choose her cubicle) testing and verification agent and the go-to person when it is time to travel all over the country (yes, lots of travel) commissioning AV systems.

She started her career as sound engineer for live and recording artists (prefers live), working with all types of music genres from jazz to salsa.  After dealing with too many heavy bass amplifiers and monstrous subwoofers, she decided to get an EET degree (at the tender age of 35) and move into the AV industry (where people don’t look at her angrily when the singer produces feedback by cupping the mic by its head) quickly establishing herself one of the AVR’s top programmers (design, control systems, and DSP, oh my).

Fun Facts:

Gisela likes to paint pretty birds, play guitar and repique (google it), and visit friends around the world.

Nick Femister

Lead Technician, CAD Specialist, CTS, CQT

“The best way to complain is to make things.” - James Murphy

Nick Femister is an AVR technician and responsible for systems drawings. He hopped on board in the spring of 2013, doe-eyed and fresh out of SUNY Geneseo. Since then, he has achieved his InfoComm CTS and AQAV CQT certifications and since moved on to commission systems across the continental United States, testing and verifying complex systems for large private and government clients.

Since he was a child, Nick always had a love for sound and music, picking up guitars, keyboards and, later, mixers and microphones. Sound held his interest through college, where he ran sound for a number of student productions. When given the opportunity to work for AVR, he was fueled by the opportunity to learn about the AV industry and, of course, to play with the kind of cutting-edge equipment used professionally.
