Company History

2001
AVR is launched by the team of Mario Maltese, Jim Maltese, and Lorrie Morrow. The company positions itself as a resource to the AV industry, providing specialized AV skills. The primary focus is AV system integration and maintenance services. The first AV company with two individuals with advance InfoComm certifications (CTS-D and CTS-I).

2003
AVR is contracted to commission the huge rollout of conference rooms over several years for a large international bank. A testing plan ensures the rooms are delivered complete, on time, and within budget. The plan proves highly effective and gives birth to AVR’s 3rd Party Testing and Verification Service.

2004
AVR becomes ISO 9001:2000 certified to increase our value to our clients. CEO, Mario Maltese, receives the "Educator of the Year" award from InfoComm International.

2006
AVR authors "AV 9000: Defining Quality in Engineered Audio Visual Systems." This how-to book is a precursor to the AV 9000 Quality Management Standard.

2009
Founding team member, Jim Maltese, wins the "Young AV Professional" award from InfoComm International. This is the first year the award is offered.

2010
After many years of sharing AVR’s battery of testing procedures with the industry, AVR unveils the AV 9000 Quality Management System to the world. This results in dramatically increased awareness of AV best practices, with measurable benefits to everyone in the AV industry. Mario Maltese receives the "Fred Dixon Service In Education" award from InfoComm International. It is the highest honor the InfoComm Education Department can bestow on an individual.

2011
AVR becomes the first company in the world be to AV 9000 Compliant with the Association of Quality in Audiovisual Technology (AQAV). It's Mineola facility is improved and expanded.

2014
AVR improves and expands it's Mineola facility.

2017

CEO Mario Maltese inducted into the SCN "2017 Hall of Fame".

President James Maltese awarded the InfoComm International "Educator of the Year", making AVR the first company in history with two such award recipients.

Today
AVR continues to bring fresh and functional ideals to the AV industry, raising the bar for consistency, client satisfaction, and recognition among technology managers.
